About the teachings
The Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva, composed by the renowned 14th-century Tibetan master, Thogme Zangpo, is a great treatise that summarizes the entire bodhisattva path and provides excellent pith instructions for Mahayana practice. This fundamental text is studied and practiced in all schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
Bodhisattvas are those who strive to attain enlightenment to be of best help to everyone. As a training manual for the Bodhisattva path, this treatise enables bodhicitta to increase naturally and become stronger in our minds after we completely understand it.
This classic by Tokme Zangpo summarises the teachings of Śāntideva’s Bodhicaryāvatāra and other sources, in order to present the path of the bodhisattva in just thirty-seven 4-line verses.
It offers an opportunity to explore radical teachings that challenge and transform conventional views of our self, others, our reality, and the adversity we face.
Gyalse Tokme Zangpo was an extremely learned scholar of teachings from all traditions; who, as well as being able to teach with total confidence on a multitude of subjects and texts, also had the ability to fully to take upon himself the suffering of others and to give them his wellbeing.
Amitāyus Long Life initiation
Amitayus, the Buddha of Infinite Life, is the Saṃbhogakāya aspect of Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light. He is depicted sitting and holding in hi
s hands a vessel containing the nectar of immortality. Amitayus has special popularity amongst Buddhist practitioners due to the infinite benefits that can be received, the immediate result being the feelings of peace and joy within us.
Outwardly, his practice can grant us good health and long life.
Inwardly, we attain a greater understanding of Dharma.
Secretly, we reduce the habituations of a self-cherishing and grasping at an inherent self.
Conditions for attending this initiation may apply and will appear here.
