Lamrim meditation and reflection group

With Constantijn Koopman and Silvie Walraven

Please note: these sessions have been postponed till the new season, starting from Thursday January 16, 2025!

Introduction

Knowledge of the lamrim (the Graduated Path to Enlightenment) only really gains its value when it has a transformative effect on your life. In other words, when we can transform external knowledge into inner experiences. Inner experiences that positively change our thinking and actions in daily life. This is what the meditation and reflection group wants to contribute to. It aims to anchor our lamrim knowledge more deeply in the heart through meditation.

Each meeting consists of two parts: a detailed meditation on a lamrim topic before the break and a discussion aimed at clarifying, deepening and exchanging points of view after the break. The starting point is Lama Tsongkhapa's Lamrim Chenmo, the Great Lamrim.

This meditation and reflection group is all about personal commitment. As students, we actively engage in meditation and discuss meditation topics with each other from an equal position.

For whom

For students who have already had some experience with the lamrim. This need not necessarily be the Lamrim Chenmo, other lamrim texts by Je Tsongkhapa, such as The Three Principles of the Path and The Foundation of all Good Qualities are also a good stepping stone for the meditation group. So is the Discovering Buddhism course.

Practical information

  • Dates: Thursday evenings from 3 October (weekly). There are 8 meetings before the winter break (until 21 November). We will resume meetings in mid-January.
  • Time: 19.00 - 21.00
  • Location: MIA centre, on location and online via Zoom
  • Language: Dutch or English, depending on participants.

The meditations will be recorded and made available afterwards to support ongoing meditation. Handouts will also be made available from time to time.

Guidance

Constantijn Koopman and Silvie Walraven, experienced students of MIA, will guide the meetings. It is not necessary to attend all meetings, but we hope that a group of regularly meeting practitioners will develop, inspiring each other on the Path.
